As soon as Martie Sullivan moved Sweet Basil to a larger space she fulfilled another dream: cooking classes for Kids & Teens. And not just “kids-easy” dishes but the real deal. (See some upcoming classes below.) The TV cooking shows were gaining followers of all ages. Martie wanted to offer them a serious and fun environment with professional chefs teaching them to emulate their TV heroes.
Sweet Basil has classes for Kids & Teen scheduled throughout the year. In addition, we are well known for our Summer Cook Camps!! Classes are also scheduled on Saturdays during the school year and extra classes during vacation periods. Parent Kids & Teen classes are also popular. Check out some of our upcoming classes below.

KIDS AND PARENTS COOK PIZZA AND PASTA~ CLASS IS FULL~
This class offers a lesson everyone can get excited about! Come with your child (aged 8 or above) to be a team and learn to make these favorite foods! These recipes provide lots of choices for delicious family meals. Join us for Cheeseburger Pizza; Turkey Pesto Meatballs and Orecchiette; Malaysian Chicken Pizza; Fettuccine Alfredo; Bacon, Ranch, and Chicken Mac and Cheese; Pineapple and Bacon French Bread Pizza, and Roasted Cherry Tomato Sauce with Spaghetti. KIDS PIZZA AND PASTA
This class for kids (ages eight and above) teaches how to make kid-friendly foods with recipes the whole family can enjoy! Sign up your young cook and let them experience the joy of Pizza making, and Pasta and Sauce making. Our lesson will be one-pot Fettuccine Alfredo; Italian Sausage & Pepperoni French Bread Pizza; puffy Pepperoni Pizza Pastry Twists; magic Chicken & Penne Pasta baked with Red Sauce and Cheese; Garlic Bread Cavatappi Pasta; White Pizza with Ricotta, Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheeses, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Pizza with Frosting and Sprinkles.
KIDS BAKE
Most kids are curious to learn how to bake. This class will teach kids (ages eight & above) sweet and savory baking techniques. Italian foods are a favorite cuisine for many families - it’s comfort food at its best. If your child is aged 8 or above and is interested in cooking, this lesson will put them on the path to being comfortable in the kitchen with recipes made for family meals. This cooking class for your child (8 years old or older) will be so much fun because it blends creativity with hands-on learning and makes something special for mom! The menu is made for repeating at home for an accomplished show of love for mom. KIDS COOKING CAMP – JUNE 8 THRU JUNE 12
If your child is interested in cooking and is between the ages of 8 and 12, this week-long series will teach cooking skills and methods that will allow them to follow a recipe and be able to cook independently. Each day a new fun topic is introduced. Kids work hands-on in teams of two, and at the end of the lesson, have a meal of the foods prepared. This series teaches:
MONDAY – Breakfast: fresh Summer Fruit skewers; Sausage Pancakes with Cinnamon Syrup; Breakfast Potatoes with crispy Bacon; Cheddar Cheese & fresh Vegetable Frittata; Homemade Biscuits with Sausage Gravy; soft Taco Scrambled Eggs with fresh Salsa, and French Toast with fresh Berries & Syrup.
TUESDAY – Baking: Blueberry Coffee Cake; Chocolate Chip-Banana Muffins; Homemade English Muffins with Butter & Jam; fresh-made French Bread; Cheese Pizza with Homemade Crust; Cheddar & Herb Biscuits with Honey Butter, and Cranberry-Orange Scones.
WEDNESDAY – Family Dinner: Bacon Deviled Eggs; crisp Romaine Salad with Croutons & creamy Italian Dressing; Sunday night Spaghetti with Meat Sauce; oven roasted Chicken Tenders with Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce; Homemade Mac & Cheese with toasted Breadcrumbs; sautéed fresh Vegetables with Basil Pesto, and Chocolate Brownies with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.
THURSDAY – Fresh Made Snacks: Homemade Chips & Salsa; Parmesan Chicken Nuggets with fresh made Ranch Dipping Sauce; Homemade Hummus with Pita Chips; Tomato & Mozzarella Mini Grilled Cheese; oven baked French Fries; Homemade Meatballs with Marinara Sauce and freshly made Chocolate Chip-Oatmeal Cookies.
FRIDAY – Cupcake Wars: Vanilla Cupcakes; Chocolate Cupcakes; Red Velvet Cupcakes; Carrot Cupcakes, and Banana Cupcakes. Students will work in teams to create a theme for their cupcakes then will bake and decorate them to finish.
