As soon as Martie Sullivan moved Sweet Basil to a larger space she fulfilled another dream: cooking classes for Kids & Teen. And not just “kids-easy” dishes but the real deal. (See some sample classes below.) The TV cooking shows were gaining followers of all ages. Martie wanted to offer them a serious and fun environment with professional chefs teaching them to emulate their TV heroes.

Sweet Basil has classes for Kids & Teen scheduled throughout the year. In addition, we are well known for our Summer Cook Camps!! Classes are also scheduled on Saturdays during the school year and extra classes during vacation periods. Parent Kids & Teen classes are also popular. Check out some of our upcoming classes below.

GINGERBREAD HOUSE BUILDING

This fun class is for house builders ages 8 and above who want to create their own beautiful Gingerbread House! You’ll get your own house to design and all the icing you need to trim it. Next, you’ll choose from a HUGE array of candies and building (decorating) materials to decorate. When you’re done you will have your own amazing Gingerbread house, to take home & enjoy through the holiday season.

KIDS COOK BREAKFAST & LUNCH

Kids 8 and above will learn recipes they can go home and make for themselves (with maybe a little help from Mom and Dad) when they are hungry! Sign up for a fun morning of cooking & learn to make Breakfast Tacos with Potatoes, Eggs, & Salsa; Chocolate Chip Stuffed French Toast; Mexican Macaroni & Cheese; Chinese Chicken Salad; Waffle Iron Turkey Melt Panini; Corn & Black Bean Quesadillas, and Jelly-filled Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting.

This class is open to kids 8 and above and an adult to learn recipes for families who love Italian flavors and specialties. Come as partners to learn and prepare Mushroom and Spinach Pizzas; Hot Anti-Pasta Dip with Crostini; Tilapia with mixed Herb Gremolata; Grilled Pork Cutlets with Zucchini, Corn and Cherry Tomato Sauce; Parmesan Chicken Mini Pies; Cheese Ravioli Skillet Lasagna with Pesto Breadcrumbs and Lemon Ricotta Cookies with Lemon Glaze.
